Cromer Youth Football Club was started in August 1982 by a group of parents looking to give their children a regular recreational interest. The first teams were Under 15 and Under 12 and matches were played at Cromer High School. Councillor Vera Woodcock suggested the club approach North Norfolk District Council for permission to use the pitch at Fearns Park in Cromer and erect a building to use as changing rooms. The land was leased by the club for over 20 years. During this time the club went from strength to strength and at one time consisted of eleven squads through from age six to eighteen years. After outgrowing Fearns Park, additional pitch facilities were used at Northrepps and later at East Runton playing fields, which are our main bases for home games today.

Cromer Youth soon became established in the community and local businesses gave their support through sponsorship of team strips. Success on the field followed with children and parents achieving high standards of competitiveness and sportsmanship. It is this that has earned the club honours in league & cup competitions and for fair play.

Since the 90′s training has taken place on the floodlit astroturf pitch at Cromer Academy – a superb facility that means each team receives up to one and a half hours of quality training every week.

Enjoyment is the keyword in the club on and off the field. Footballing holidays have been a feature for many of the children. 1996 saw the first Cromer Youth European Tour when the Under 14 and and Under 15 squads travelled to Holland, Belgium and Germany for friendly matches – an experience players and parents will never forget.

Our managers, committee members and helpers are encouraged to gain knowledge through FA courses to benefit the children. Through a lot of hard work and commitment, the club was one of the first in Norfolk to gain the FA Charter Standard and is now one of only eleven clubs in Norfolk that hold Charter Standard Community Club status. The club remains committed to maintaining this status and the benefits it brings.
